During the last week of October 2014, I had the incredible privilege of kayaking the Lower Columbia River Water Trail, a 146-mile stretch of river nestled between Washington and Oregon. Now that we’ve finished the voyage, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve booked several slideshows!

In spring, I led a trek in the Khumbu Valley of northeastern Nepal. This is the equipment list I compiled to help my team prepare for our high-altitude adventure.

For one glorious month this fall, I’ve been a writer-in-residence at the Jentel Arts Foundation in Sheridan, Wyoming.

In the August 2014 issue of Blue Water Sailing, I published an article called “You’ll Outlive The Bastards.”

These are the things I’ve been thinking about this summer.

I’m teaching a travel writing class with the University of Washington’s Experimental College! The class is 6:30-10pm on July 31st. And—thanks to some friends at Lake Union Charters & Adventures—it’s on a boat!

I’m leading an Art Hit Tour at the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) on Thursday, August 21. Come join us!

It’s been a busy summer: I’ve been writing a lot, working on a couple of exciting new projects (more on those soon!), and getting into the hills with International Mountain Guides.

In the June 2014 issue of CQ Magazine, I wrote a piece about kayaking to an uninhabited island in Puget Sound. Thanks to HandiHam, it’s been turned into a podcast!

For two wonderful weekends this summer, I’ll be taking a break from the mountains to act as a guest guide with Ballard Kayak and Lake Union Charters & Adventures.
